Paint correction in Market Harborough

Not every swirl comes from washing. Some come from a previous polish done badly — holograms and buffer trails that only show in sunlight, left by a rotary machine used too fast or with the wrong pad. Paint correction removes those too, and it's work that needs doing properly the second time.

Holograms, buffer trails and getting it right

Holograms look like faint, shimmering trails that move as you walk past the car. They're the marks of a polishing job that was never refined: the cutting stage done, the finishing stage skipped. On dark paint in sunshine they can look worse than the swirls they replaced.

Fixing them means refining the paint with the right combination of machine, pad and polish — which is what a proper two-stage correction does. Cut to remove the defects, then refine to a clear, haze-free finish.

The catch is that a car that's been polished before has less clear coat left. That makes paint depth readings essential rather than a nice extra: we need to know what's there before deciding how much to take.

Paint correction in Market Harborough: questions

What are holograms on car paint?+

Faint, shimmering trails left by a previous machine polish that wasn't finished properly — usually a rotary polisher with no refining stage. They show most on dark colours in direct sun, and they can be polished out.

Is a gloss enhancement enough, or do I need correction?+

If the paint is fundamentally sound and you want more shine, a gloss enhancement may be all you need. If there are visible swirls or holograms in sunlight, only correction removes them. We'll look at it in daylight and tell you honestly.

How long will my car be out of action?+

A one-step correction takes a day; a two-step takes two to three. As we're mobile, the car stays on your drive or in your garage the whole time.
