Paint correction in Corby

A common story: you buy a used car, it looks immaculate on the forecourt, and three or four washes later it's covered in swirls you never saw. That isn't your washing. It's the dealer's glaze washing out and showing what was underneath all along. Machine polishing removes those scratches for real.

Why used cars look perfect, then don't

Plenty of cars are prepared for sale with a polish or glaze that fills fine scratches rather than removing them. It looks superb on collection day. But fillers don't last — a few washes and some rain, and the swirls the previous owner put in come back into view.

Paint correction is the permanent version of that same improvement. A machine polisher levels a fraction of the clear coat so the bottom of each scratch becomes the new surface. Nothing is filled, so nothing washes out.

Before anything starts, paint depth gets measured. On a used car you don't know the history — it may have been polished before, or had panels resprayed — and those readings tell us how much there is to work with.

Paint correction in Corby: questions

Why has my car started showing swirls after a few weeks?+

Most likely a dealer glaze or filler has washed out, revealing scratches that were there all along. Correction removes them; another glaze would just hide them again for a few weeks.

Can you tell if a panel has been resprayed?+

Paint depth readings usually show it — a resprayed panel tends to read noticeably thicker or thinner than the rest. It matters because resprayed paint can behave differently under the polisher, so we adjust for it.

Can you remove one scratch rather than doing the whole car?+

Often, yes, if it's within the clear coat — a localised correction on one panel. If it's deep enough to catch a fingernail, polishing will improve it but won't remove it completely, and we'll say so before we start.
