Engine bay cleaning in Northampton

A lot of people search for somewhere to get their engine washed, end up at a jet wash, and regret it. Water forced into connectors, the alternator or the fuse box is how a clean engine turns into a warning light. We clean engine bays the slow, careful way — at your home or work in Northampton.

How we do it without risking the electrics

The engine has to be cool first. Degreaser on a hot block dries before it can be rinsed and leaves stains, and cold water on hot metal is never a good idea.

Everything that doesn't like water gets covered: alternator, fuse box, intake and any exposed connectors. A dedicated degreaser is then worked in with soft detailing brushes, so the grime comes off through agitation rather than pressure.

It's rinsed at low pressure and dried with compressed air, so water isn't left sitting in seams and plugs. The plastics and rubbers get a water-based dressing that looks factory-fresh rather than wet and greasy — greasy dressings attract dust and look cheap within a week.

Engine Bay Cleaning in Northampton: questions

Is it safe to clean an engine bay?+

Done properly, yes. Modern engine bays are built to cope with rain and road spray. What causes problems is high-pressure water forced into electrical connections, or harsh degreasers left to dry on hot plastics — both of which we avoid.

Why would I get my engine bay cleaned?+

Three reasons, usually. Selling: a clean bay makes a car look cared-for to a buyer or a dealer. Spotting problems: on a clean engine, a fresh oil or coolant leak is obvious the day it starts. And for some people, the car just isn't properly clean until the engine is too.

Can I add it to a valet?+

Yes, and that's how most people book it — alongside a full deep clean, while the car's already being worked on. Just mention it when you ask for a quote.
