Paint protection film (PPF) in Leicester

If you drive out of Leicester on the M1, the M69 or the A46, the front of your car is taking a steady stream of stones and grit. Chips build up quietly — and each one is a spot where the clear coat has gone and the paint beneath is exposed. Paint protection film is the only thing that physically stops them.

No obligation. We never pass your details on.

Why the front end is where it matters

Nearly all chip damage lands on the leading edges: the front bumper, the front of the bonnet, the mirrors and the headlights. That's why most people choose a front-end package rather than covering the whole car — it protects where the damage actually happens.

The film is a thick, clear urethane layer with a self-healing top coat. Light scratches from washing, or a brush past a hedge, close back up with heat. Once it's fitted, it's very hard to see.

In the city it earns its keep in other ways too. Door edges and the top of the rear bumper take a beating in tight multi-storeys and on busy terraced streets, and film on those spots stops the small marks that make a newer car look old.

Paint Protection Film (PPF) in Leicester: questions

Is PPF worth it on a new car?+

On a new or high-value car you plan to keep, yes — particularly if it does motorway miles. It's far cheaper than repainting a bonnet and bumper, and an original, chip-free front end matters to the next buyer.

Can you put a ceramic coating over PPF?+

Yes, and it's worth doing. The film stops the chips; a coating on top makes it slick, water-repellent and easy to clean, just like the rest of the car.

How long does PPF last?+

Quality film typically lasts five to ten years depending on the product and how the car's used, and it's covered by a manufacturer warranty against yellowing, cracking and lifting. It can also be removed cleanly later, leaving the original paint underneath in the condition it was protected in.
