Range Rover detailing

Range Rovers are some of the cars we look after most, and most of what goes wrong when they're cleaned happens in the details: the intricate grille on an Autobiography, the lettering and trim at the back, the delicate fabric lining the storage areas, and a roof most valets never reach.

What we pay attention to on a Range Rover

The Autobiography grille

The front grille on Autobiography models has intricate detailing that traps dirt, old wax and polish residue in every opening. It's cleaned with soft detailing brushes, a section at a time, so the finish stays even and no white residue is left in the gaps.

The details at the back

The tailgate lettering, badges and trim collect residue the same way. Each letter and edge is brushed clean, rather than wiped over and left with polish caked around it.

Sensitive fabric in the storage areas

The cubby boxes, console storage and load area use delicate fabrics and linings that mark or fluff up if they're scrubbed or soaked. They're cleaned with minimal moisture, soft brushes and gentle extraction, so they come back clean and undamaged.

Light and semi-aniline leather

Light, natural leathers are soft and comfortable — and prone to dye transfer from jeans and to staining. They're cleaned with a gentle leather cleaner and soft brush, and a leather coating afterwards stops the blue tint coming back.

The roof

From the ground, a Range Rover's roof is out of sight, so it's often the part that never gets cleaned. We use proper access to wash, decontaminate and protect it like every other panel.

Big panels and satin finishes

Large flat panels show swirls clearly, and some Range Rovers have satin finishes that must never be polished. The finish is checked first, and the right products used for it.

Range Rover detailing: questions

Do you clean the roof?+

Yes, every time, with proper access. On a car this tall, the roof is where dirt and sap get left behind by washes that only reach what's visible.

Can you remove the blue tint from my light leather seats?+

Usually, if it's caught early. Dye transfer from jeans sits on the surface at first and lifts with a dedicated leather cleaner; left for months, it can work in deeper. A leather coating afterwards stops it happening again.

How do you clean an Autobiography grille without leaving residue?+

By hand, with soft detailing brushes worked into each opening, and with products that don't leave white marks on the trim. It's slow, but it's the difference between a grille that looks clean and one that looks right.
