Paint protection film (PPF) in Rutland

On Rutland's unlit lanes, headlights matter. Grit from the road pits the lenses over time, and pitted lenses scatter the beam and age the car faster than anything else. Headlight film is one of the most useful pieces of paint protection film you can fit here — and the front end comes with it.

Headlights, lanes and the A1

Headlight lenses are plastic, and every grain of grit thrown at them leaves a small pit. Over a few years they turn hazy and lose light. Clear film over the lenses takes those impacts and keeps them clear.

The rest of the front end takes the same punishment, especially if you're joining the A1 near Stamford or using the A47 regularly. A front-end package — bumper, bonnet, wings, mirrors and headlights — covers where nearly all chips land.

For cars that do a lot of lane miles, the lower doors and sills are worth considering too. Gravel from farm tracks and driveways gets thrown at them by the car's own front wheels.

Paint Protection Film (PPF) in Rutland: questions

Can paint protection film go on headlights?+

Yes, and it's one of the most worthwhile places for it. It stops stone pitting and the haze that comes with it, so the beam stays bright.

Will film on my headlights reduce the light?+

Quality clear film is optically clear and doesn't noticeably reduce light output — far less than a pitted, hazy lens does.

Is PPF worth it on an older car?+

It can be, if the paint is in good condition or has been corrected — the film keeps it that way. On a car with lots of existing chips, it's worth touching them in and correcting first, so you're protecting a finish worth protecting.
